So we’re in a second day of Formula 1 testing for 2014. I’m still shocked over what the new noses of the majority of the cars look like, but I’m starting to get over it. (Or at least lying to myself, that I’m getting over it). After doing a bit of surfing, I found a link to a video of Jerez testing that gives a taste of what the new V6-Hybrid turbo engines sound like.
Clearly because of the turbocharging and the smaller number of cylinders, they sound quieter than the screaming naturally aspirated cars that I’ve grown up with, but I’m going to have to wait until I hear a few of the cars battling together before I make my call “Yay or Nay!” They remind me of old Champ-Cars, which kind of makes sense. Small engines, turbocharged…yadda, yadda.
F1 is weird this year. How are you coping with it? Do you like the new noses? Do you like the new engines? What about some of the new driver line-ups? Lemme know.
Thanks to ‘The F1Times’ for the link.
Note- Here is another audio comparison video between the 2014 engine and the V8s of last year.
