First Autocross After Too Long

As I write this, I’m sitting in a truck on the road to San Diego to compete in the 2013 SCCA Pacific Southwest National Tour autocross event in San Diego. You may recall that in my last post, I mentioned some nervousness about jumping into the deep end of competition. To ease my nerves, and get familiar with Sean Green’s new Miata, I entered last weekend’s Western Washington Sports Car Council autocross.

This event was a ton of fun and verified for me that I still enjoy autocrossing. I wasn’t as slow as I feared and wasn’t as fast as I wanted. Most importantly, I didn’t get lost on course.

The great social aspect of autocrossing came right back. I enjoyed seeing old friends and chatting with new friends I have made through social media but had never actually seen in person. Hanging out with Sean and Brianne Green and their delightful daughter was just as much fun as it has always been.

As we approach Sacremento, my excitement to compete in San Diego grows. Sean and I are enjoying a great road trip. Stay tuned for an event report.

Below is a selection of pictures I took at the event. These were almost all taken during the second half of the afternoon run group.
