My brain is still decompressing from the fun that was the @icpcup_official weekend. The biggest thing from over the weekend was that I feel like I can appreciate where I'm improving, while understanding that there is so much more to go. I saw some amazing drivers over the last three days, not just in my team, but from all over the region. I learned ton by watching so many different driving styles and techniques. I'm really lucky to have faster and more experienced teammates than me racing with @hugglerracingengines, so that we can debrief and decompress things into what had gone well and what to do next. Podium, baby! I don't think I've ever been so blessed to have a surprise hailstorm happen before a final in my entire life. We had a top 8 kart in the dry, which would have been a good result for our first full weekend in the kart. However it hailed (yep, hail) just before my final, where we started 11th, and ended up 3rd! This was my first regional podium, away from my home track! Once again, thanks to @hugglerracingengines for their amazing support. I wouldn't have been able to do any of this without Doug and Lori. Thanks to Ty Schlorer for his help wrenching and spotting this weekend. His sharp eyes gave us the feedback to help us to start to figure out the direction that we want to start develop. Also, it was great to meet Nik Goodfellow from @torqamerica and his wife this weekend. It's been awesome to promote Torq Racewear, and getting to know Nik really showed his passion for racing and his awesome driving. Finally, thanks to my wife Karina for her love and support. I wouldn't want to do this without you, love. Friday practice of @icpcup_official at @tricitykartclub. @hugglerracingengines has a huge turnout and the overall event is packed! Crazy fun day today at PSGKA. Qualified second, .1 of pole on a slippery track and then won all the heats and the final. Super close racing by the top three. Each heat was covered by less than a second. Tons of good battling all day for this win. Special thanks to the wifey for helping to wrench of the kart all day today, and apologizing for me when I had headphones on, tuning everyone out.
