StartingGrid friend, Pujo! co-driver, and mechanical wizard Doug Chase, of Chase Race shared this video from an event he was crewing at last weekend. I’ll let Doug describe the video, “Last weekend was the Mt. Hood rally and we were crewing for our good buddies at Roshambo Racing. Unfortunately our rally was ended just a little bit early. By a deer.” The video has clear audio that shows a little concern about conditions. Rally is awesome.

I had read about this six months ago, but this was the first time that I’d seen it! His huge moment at 150mph just serves to remind me that your hands follow your eyes, when racing. Thanks again to Steven Taylor for the find!
“Quote from YouTube- See Mark Higgins and his Subaru WRX STI setting an all-time course record for the historic Isle of Man TT Mountain Course. Highlighting the speed and drama surrounding rally driver Mark Higgins’ lap that averaged 115.356 MPH. After the run, Higgins talks through the “moment” at Brey Hill when he momentarily loses, and then regains, control of the WRX STI at more than 150 MPH.”
Interesting to say the least.
Christmas must be coming upon us early, as automakers have been getting involved in some exciting projects. earlier in the week, I posted a picture of the new Subaru BRZ Super GT300 car.
I’m already in love with it, as I’m glad that Subaru is entering into the series with a new an exciting chassis.
Just this morning, I was able to find a preview video of the car that I wanted to share with you all. Happy Friday!
Hopefully Toyota will bring more information on thier proposed Prius Super GT contender soon, as well.
Found this photo at random during my lunchbreak.
Taken in the classic JDM drift-parking lot, I don’t know much about it. I do know however, I love it. (In a way that I’m apart ashamed of.)
You can tell that someone took Toyota Chaser headlights and fixed them to the front, which only the Japanese would think to do. Can anyone help me do some research and find out more about this wagon?
Anyone know any more about it?
Personally, I haven’t been that interested in the FT86/Subaru BRZ. This car had been in the rumor mill for more than 5 years, and with more twists and turns than gamers waiting for the next Gran Turismo.
Honestly, the car hasn’t really done much for me as a road car. However, as always, now there is a new development that has caught my attention.
Why? Because race car… (Super GT300 class). I love that front facia and those overfenders! Freaking awesome.
In the interest of getting to know the readers a bit better (and have them get to know me a bit better), I wanted to pose a couple of questions:
What was your first race car? (If you have never raced, what was the first car that really captured your imagination?)
My first race car was a 2000 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS. This was the first generation chassis, and it was a 4-door manual. I beat this car up at autocrosses, rallycrosses, off-pavement TSD rallies, and track days. It was put into service at the end of 2000 and retired from service at the end of 2005.
This car was pretty darn gutless, but it was also incredibly stable on-throttle. Even on packed snow, you could just stand on it.
It was a great starter car, but it also taught horrible driving habits. The only real incident the car suffered was the result of a miscommunication between my co-driver and I on a winter rally (oh… turn here!)… I put the car into a snow bank, but backed right out and kept on going.
If Subaru would sell me a new one of these, I’d buy it.
I had some shots taken of the Miata over the last weekend, and a few more of them have finished processing! The Impreza is driven by my friend Ben, who super loves Subarus.
I promise to bring you some more action shots of the Roadster soon. I just have to work the time into my schedule. I’m planning some autocrosses and a lapping day in October, so we’ll see how the story goes.
Oh man, I’ve just had the most earthshatteringly awesome experience in a very long time! I have just experienced my first taste of rally behind the wheel. I attended an introductory rally driving school hosted by DirtFish Rally School.
Let me tell you, these guys are awesome!
Since some of the SGRID team is out at the rally schools today, we figured it would be appropreiate to post more rally footage.
Sadly, we’re not driving a WRC car, but who cares really? Hopefully we can catch a wiff of this driving essense out of the stages today.
