I wish they had never stopped producing this car, styled like this. The original Europa had such character and unique styling, that you knew it was driver’s car from the word ‘Go’.
I’ve seen one at an autocross in person, and I’ve wanted to drive one hard ever since.
The ‘modern’ Europa cannot even try to hold a candle to the original.

If it’s possible to be in love with a machine, the Lotus Europa is my heartthrob. I doubt that I’ll ever have one, but I fantasize about building a new one. Since I live in the USA I have the advantage of their loophole motor vehicle laws. The new car could be built under the auspices of Hot Rod rules. A donor vehicle with clear title is the first piece of the build. After that the chassis and body can be purchased new from companies in England. And as for the engine? – How ’bout a 400+ hp Mitsubishi 4 banger.
Cost? – $50+ and three years of sweating in garage every night.
Reward? – Priceless.
